So you say you've never heard of Roatan? Not surprising. This beautiful island oasis is just waking to a new world.

Roatan is one of the Bay Islands, found approximately 40 miles off the Northeast Coast of Honduras. It is well known by the diving community as it is surrounded by the second largest barrier reef in the world.

Roatan is approximately 40 miles long, 3 miles at the widest section and has peaks upwards of 900 feet. The island has a history rich in pirate lore. The island has changed hands multiple times over the years between Spain, England and finally winning her independence as a part of Honduras on September 15, 1821.

The history of the island explains the diversity of her people, an eclectic mixture of Garifuna, Hondurans and local Islanders making up the majority with a spattering of ex-pats from a host of other countries such as: Holland, South Africa, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, the U.S. and many more.

This island is still in its infancy with regard to infrastructure, i.e.: schools, health care, road systems, public utilities, etc. But, that too adds to the charm and simplicity of life on the island. It is this simplicity that often times leads to challenges and inconveniences found in every day life and in The Roatan Island Game.

As the game says, you can be whatever you choose to be when you come to this island. Many opportunities await the individual with a sense of adventure, a yearning for a less stressful life, like stepping

back in time yet still having many of the modern conveniences we've come to enjoy throughout our lives.
